Alleged NPAs attack provincial safety company in Zambales

A police station and a provincial public safety company (PPSC) in Botolan were separately attacked by suspected New People’s Army in Zambales province Monday morning. SPO1 Larry Deliguin told the Daily Manila Shimbun in a phone interview, about 15 to 20 suspected members of the New People's Army engaged the provincial safety company in fighting at Brgy. Taugtog, Botolan town around 1 a.m. Deliguin said there was an exchange of gunfire between the PPSC officers and the armed group which lasted for 20 to 30 minutes. The group was seen fleeing towards the direction of Sitio Bihawo, Botolan, a police report said. In a separate incident, police fired at five men who were seen crawling towards the Botolan municipal police station at 1:15 am., Deliguin said. The men fled to the back portion of the station after the police fired at them, he said. Deliguin said no one was hurt from the two incidents. The Zambales PPSC is pursuing the attackers, police said. (Alanna Ambi/DMS)
