Ano outlines priorities of DILG
January 6, 2018
The new head of the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) said Saturday he will address corruption in government, illegal drugs and terrorism.
In a message on Viber, Undersecretary Eduardo Ano said the three issues are among his initial priorities as officer-in-charge of the DILG.
“We will fight corruption, drugs and terrorism,” Ano said.
Ano, a former chief of staff of the Armed Forces of the Philippines, assumed his new post on Friday. The former officer-in-charge, Catalino Cuy, was tapped by President Rodrigo Duterte to lead the Dangerous Drugs Board.
He plans to improve organizations under the DILG, including the Philippine National Police (PNP) which is mainly tasked with law enforcement operations and public safety.
Ano said he thanked Duterte. “I express my gratitude to the president for the trust and confidence bestowed upon me,” he said. DMS
