June 5, 2020
Philippine Army Commanding General Lt. Gen. Gilbert Gapay and Australian Ambassador Steven Robinson held a video meeting in Taguig City on Thursday.
Col. Ramon Zagala, Philippine Army spokesman, said Gapay and Ambassador Steven Robinson discussed matters concerning the state of the country and the Army's involvement amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
Zagala said Gapay "also extended the Army’s gratitude towards the Australian government for donating supplies used by the country's medical frontliners."
"Our ties with our global partners remain strong," Gapay said.
"Although much of our significant engagements with the Australian Army have been cancelled or postponed due to the pandemic, our planners are in constant coordination such that training and exercises can be conducted once conditions permit," he added. Robina Asido/DMS
