Army chief Sobejana holds talks with Aussie counterpart

The Philippine and Australian armies last Wednesday held talks on the current security environment, status of the two countries activities and COVID-19 efforts.
Col. Ramon Zagala, Philippine Army spokesman said through a telephone call, Commanding General Lt. Gen. Cirilito Sobejana and the Australian Chief of Army Lt. Gen. Rick Burr held discussions.
Zagala said during their talks "Sobejana shared that the Philippine Army is looking forward and working hard to have a terror-free country."
"He (Sobejana) mentioned that joint efforts are done in order to counter terrorism that has been continuously evolving and even affecting nations globally," he said.
Zagala said Sobejana also thanked Burr for being the first Chief of Army to congratulate him on his assumption as the new commanding general of the PA.
Zagala said Burr emphasized "that the connection between the two armies have a very good framework to address the evolving nature of terrorism."
"He (Burr) mentioned that the strategic environment of the region allow developments to be shared and thus, both armies should work more closely together, have a shared understanding of the threats and changes in the environment," he said.
Zagala said the two army chiefs shared their practices and efforts on COVID19 and hoped to meet personally in the future.
"They again expressed PA and AUS Army’s commitment to remain well-engaged and pursue mutually beneficial activities for both armies," he said. Robina Asido/DMS
