April 10, 2020
At least 1,000 violators of the enhanced community quarantine were arrested by the Cavite police during an overnight anti- criminality drive last Thursday.
Colonel Marlon Santos, Cavite provincial director, said a total of 1, 003 violated provincial ordinance, EO-10 Series 2020 or the order placing Cavite under community quarantine in view of COVID-19 outbreak.
Santos said data showed that among the arrested violators of ECQ, 232 disregarded the curfew ordinance, four ignored the liquor ban, twelve accounted for non-cooperation or resisting arrest, and 755 were held in checkpoints for having no barangay quarantine pass.
“Some violators of Enhanced Community Quarantine were charged, others were fined, while others submitted themselves for community services,” he said.
Also, thirty eight persons were arrested for illegal drugs, attempted homicide, homicide, theft, falsification of commercial documents, and cockfighting.
Santos said the arrested suspects were brought to their police stations to prepare for inquest to be filed before the Office of the Provincial Prosecutor.
Confiscated pieces of evidence were brought to the Cavite provincial police's Scene of the Crime Operation (SOCO) laboratory.
Santos appealed to the public to observe the Enhanced Community Quarantine, obey the government’s rules and regulation and stay at home to prevent the spread of the coronavirus disease. Ella Dionisio/DMS
