At least 500 Caloocan cops replaced: PNP

September 25, 2017

The Philippine National Police said Monday at least 500 Caloocan police officers were replaced following the order of National Capital Region Office Director Oscar Albayalde to relieve all Caloocan cops.

"The initial 297 removed by NCRPO ni General Oscar Alabayalde were replaced by the RPSB (Regional Public Safety Battalion) from Bicutan(Taguig). Now the additional I think we have a total of 506  or 509", Chief Superintendent  Dionardo Carlos, PNP spokesperson, said in a press briefing.

Albayalde ordered the relief of the entire Caloocan police force on September 15 after some of its police officers got involved in the death of a 17-year old boy, Kian Delos Santos, a suspected drug courier and Carl Angelo Arnaiz,19 who allegedly robbed a taxi driver.

Carlos said the 500 Caloocan police officers relieved were replaced by the District Public Safety Battalion from the Manila Police District.

"This are our mobile units. They will now take the role of the Caloocan PNP and the Caloocan PNP personnel that were relieved will go to those who replaced them", he said.

Carlos said the order of relief by Albayalde was for the reorientation on police operational procedure, and spiritual and moral upliftment.

"It's more of reminding them of the right thing to do", he said.

He said there are policemen showing interest in being transferred to Caloocan city but they are still waiting for the Directorate for Personnel and Records Management to issue the transfer and reassignment documents. Alanna Ambi/DMS
