At least 7,000 OFWs transported to their provinces: DOTr

The government has transported at least 7,000 Overseas Filipino Workers (OFW) back to their provinces.
"From May 25-26 2020, the ‘Hatid Probinsya para sa mga OFWs’ Program has assisted and served a total of 7,217 OFWs, 1,677 of which were transported by land and 5,540 using air transport," the Department of Transportation (DOTr) said.
According to DOTr the ‘Hatid Probinsya para sa mga OFWs’ Program was established by National Task Force for COVID-19, and concerned government agencies in response to the call of President Rodrigo Roa Duterte to send the stranded OFWs back to their provinces.
The program was created to assist and transport our stranded OFWs in Metro Manila back to their respective provinces.
The OFWs were given free transportation from their quarantine facilities or hotels to Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) or Parañaque Integrated Terminal Exchange (PITX).
The OFWs at PITX will be brought to their provinces in Luzon while those in NAIA will avail of flights going to provinces in Visayas and Mindanao.
The Hatid Probinsya para sa mga OFWs is a joint initiative of the Department of Transportation (DOTr), Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE), Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA), Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP), Philippine Coast Guard (PCG), Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG), Philippine Ports Authority (PPA), Office for Transportation Security (OTS), Manila International Airport Authority (MIAA), Land Transportation Office (LTO), and Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB).
