At least 87 hurt as boat hits rock formation in Tablas: police

At least 87 people were injured after a passenger vessel hit a rock formation along the shore of Tablas Island in Romblon, police said Tuesday.
Superintendent Imelda Tolentino, spokesperson of the Mimaropa (Mindoro, Marinduque, Romblon, Palawan) police, said M/V Matilde of Montenegro Shipping Lines was on its way to to the port of Romblon at around 4:30 a.m.
There were 251 passengers on board, said Tolentino. She added the injured were airlifted to the nearest medical ,
The boat captain, Bernardino Canapit, said visibility was hampered by heavy rains. The Philippine Coast Guard invited boat officials for questioning. DMS
