Baby, cop die, 6 hurt in ambush by alleged NPAs

ZAMBOANGA CITY - A four-month-old baby and a policeman were killed while six were wounded in an ambush allegedly by New People’s Army (NPA) rebels in Bukidnon, the military reported Friday.
Capt. Norman Tagros, civil military operations officer of the Army’s 403rd Infantry Brigade, said in a statement, the incident occurred around 5:30 p.m. Thursday in Barangay Tikalaan, Talakag, Bukidnon.
Tagros said the fatalities were Walysha Machorao, a four-month-old baby, and SPO3 Arnel Carillo of the Bombaran Municipal Police Station in Lanao del Sur.
The baby was killed when the gunmen fired on a car following the police vehicle. Three passengers in the car were also injured.
Wounded were Ali Citi; Ali Aminsalam; Alexander Maniscan; Insp. Joven Acuesta, chief of the Bombaran Municipal Police Station; SPO1 Pacifico Cabudoy; and, PO1 Nathaniel Ibal.
Tagros said the policemen who were on a patrol vehicle were returning to Bombaran Municipal Police Station from Cagayan de Oro City when around 30 gunmen ambushed them along kilometer 28 of the Cagayan de Oro-Dominorog-Kalilangan road.
The wounded were taken to the hospitals in Bukidnon and Cagayan de Oro city. DMS
