BAGUIO CITY -- Traffic caused by tourists attending the Association of Southeast Asian Summits in Manila and Clark prompted City Mayor Mauricio Domogan to suspend classes in pre-school, elementary and high school Tuesday and Wednesday.
Domogan said “the influx of tourists in the city as felt yesterday (Monday) with the ASEAN Summit happening in Metro Manila and Clark (Pampanga).”
Starting early Monday, traffic occurred along major roads from Manila to Baguio City – Kennon Road and Marcos Highway.
Tourists had difficulty going to Camp John Hay, Mines View Park, Burnham Park and other major spots in the city and Benguet province.
Lines in public utility vehicles and jeepneys carrying students home from schools especially after classes Monday afternoon were long. A jeepney line queue along Abanao street was more than a kilometer long. DMS
