Be innovative in celebrating All Saints Day, PNP urges public
September 14, 2020
The chief of the Philippine National Police (PNP) on Monday urged the public to come up with innovations on how they will observe the All Saints and Soul’s Day this year as the country is facing threats from COVID-19.
In a press briefing at Camp Crame, Police General Camilo Cascolan said temporarily closing cemeteries in the National Capital Region (NCR) is a good measure.
“It is good that they will close cemeteries in NCR… Try to come up already with innovations. You can pray in your home already, right?,” Cascolan said.
“We are coming up already with a lot of things that are not normal before but it becomes a new normal. So all regions will defer on from each other depending on the infection or the pandemic,” he added.
The Metro Manila Council (MMC) said they recommended to the Inter-Agency Task Force on Emerging Infectious Diseases (IATF) the temporary closure of cemeteries in NCR.
They proposed to close private and public cemeteries all over the metropolis from October 28 to November 4. Ella Dionisio/DMS
