Bets snub Comelec requirement of website, social media registration

Less than a month before the May 13 polls, the Commission on Elections (Comelec) said there is only a three percent compliance rate among national and local candidates to list their websites and social media accounts.
This after only 1,473 out of the 43,554 candidates registered their websites and social media accounts as of April 4.
Among the 62 senatorial bets, only 29 have registered.
Only 58 of 633 congressional candidates have signed up with Comelec.
Among candidates for governor (273) and vice governor (185), only 14 and 10, respectively, have registered.
Under Comelec Resolution No. 10488, all candidates, political parties, and party-lists must register their the website name and addresses of the official blog and/or social media pages.
Failure to do so shall be considered as an election offense, which carries the penalty of one to six years imprisonment, removal of right to vote, and disqualification to hold public office. DMS
