Binag replaces Eleazar as head of JTF COVID Shield

Lt. Gen. Cesar Hawthorne Binag is the new commander of Joint Task Force (JTF) COVID Shield, the Philippine National Police (PNP) announced on Monday.
PNP spokesman Brig. General Ildebrandi Usana, said Lt. Gen Guillermo Lorenzo Eleazar, deputy chief PNP for Administration, has vacated his position as the head of JTF COVID Shield. He is now chief of Administrative Support for COVID-19 Operations Task Force (ASCOTF).
Binag is the former head of ASCOTF.
In a statement, Eleazar said he was designated as the commander of ASCOTF, effective November 17.
“As its outgoing commander, I feel honored and proud to have been part of this JTF,” he said.
JTF COVID Shield, enforcement arm of the Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases (IATF-MEID), is composed of the Philippine National Police, Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP), Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) and the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP).
