A bodyguard of Guihulngan City Vice Mayor Ernesto Reyes was shot dead by riding-in-tandem gunmen last Thursday night, according to Negros Oriental Provincial Police Office.

Initial police report disclosed Esolana was walking along Bateria Bridge, a few meters away from his house in Barangay Poblacion, Guihulngan City, around 6:35 pm when he was shot.
Euraoba said the victim was shot several times in the different parts of his body.
Esolana was brought to Guihulngan District Hospital but was declared dead on arrival by the attending physician while the suspects fled towards the south.
Authorities recovered four empty caliber.45 shells.
Euraoba said Esolana was a drug surrenderee of the Negros Oriental provincial police last November 17, 2016. Ella Dionisio/DMS
