Bong Go calls for unity and cooperation in support of SEA Games
November 26, 2019
Senator Christopher Lawrence "Bong" Go urged Filipinos on Tuesday to unite and cooperate amid issues related to the country's hosting of the 2019 Southeast Asian (SEA) Games.
In an interview on dzBB, Go urged organizers of the sporting events to work together as matches in some sports, led by football, had been held as early as Sunday.
"We are the hosts. We cannot afford to fail, " said Go, adding that President Rodrigo Duterte dissuades everyone from playing the blame game.
As the chair of the Senate Committee on Sports, Go said there is a right time for proper investigation on reported issues and concerns after the Games ended.
Go encouraged Filipinos to root for their athletes instead of gloating at the mistakes made.
"Don't applaud our mistakes. Applaud our athletes," said Go.
Go said this is the perfect time to show the country's natural beauty and the famous Filipino brand of hospitality. DMS
