Bong Go won’t run for Senate, vows to serve Duterte until he dies
February 16, 2018
President Rodrigo Duterte's special assistant Christopher "Bong" Go said on Friday he is not interested to run for the Senate in the 2019 elections.
Instead, Go said he would be serving Duterte until his last breath.
"I repeat, I'm not interested to run for the Senate in 2019. I will serve Mayor Duterte until I die, or if I won't die first," he told reporters in a text message.
House Speaker Pantaleon Alvarez has said he would encourage Go to join in the senatorial race next year under the administration's PDP-Laban. He has said PDP-Laban needs Go to represent Mindanao.
Go, in jest, however, said if Alvarez would make true his promise to get him as the congressman's wedding sponsor, he might change his mind in running for the Senate. Celerina Monte/DMS
