Brazil to Waive Visas for Japanese Tourists
March 20, 2019
Sao Paulo- The Brazilian government said Monday that it will waive visas for Japanese nationals for trips of up to 90 days.
The visa waiver, which will take effect on June 17, reflects the government's conclusion that Japanese nationals have a low risk of illegal stay.
With Brazil's decision, Japanese nationals will be able to visit all South American countries without visas.
Brazil will also waive visas for visitors from the United States, Canada and Australia.
The visa exemption is part of the Brazilian government's tourism promotion policy aimed at doubling the number of visitors from abroad over the next four years.
Brazilian Tourism Minister Marcelo Alvaro Antonio said that the visa waiver, a historic decision for the Brazilian tourism industry, is expected to bring about good results soon. Jiji Press
