September 3, 2020
The Bureau of Corrections (BuCor) is still waiting for the final resolution of the motion for release of US Marine Lance Corporal Joseph Scott Pemberton.
Assistant Secretary Gabriel Chaclag, BuCor spokesman. said they have received the copy of the motion for release of Pemberton and a copy of the motion for reconsideration of the family of transgender Jennifer Laude.
Pemberton was convicted in 2015 for killing Laude in Olongapo City in 2014.
"On the side of BuCor, we received a copy of the MR (motion for reconsideration) filed by the aggrieved party. The (Olongapo Regional Trial Court) RTC Branch 74 communicated with us," Chaclag said in a statement forwarded to Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) public affairs chief, Capt. Jonathan Zata.
"This means BuCor will wait for the final resolution of the MR before continuing the release process," he added. Robina Asido/DMS
