Four seafarers who just finished their 14-day quarantine were injured after the bus they were riding met an accident in Pagbilao, Quezon last Saturday.
Police Colonel Audie Madrideo, Quezon Police provincial director, said the driver of the bus was also hurt in the incident that transpired at around 5:20pm at Maharlika Highway in Barangay Bukal in Pagbilao town.
Based on initial investigation, Madrideo said the driver, identified as Gualberto Flores Guzman, 58, lost control of the steering wheel after one of the front wheels exploded. The vehicle hit business and residential establishments.
Guzman and a certain Regine Joy Fuentes, a ship crew member, were brought to the hospital after sustaining injuries in different parts of their body. The three other victims, who sustained minor injuries, were just given first aid by the rescuers.
According to Quezon Police, it will be up to the victims if they will file a case against the bus driver.
“We will rely on the decision of the victims,” it said in a Viber message to The Daily Manila Shimbun.
Further investigation of the accident has been ongoing.Ella Dionisio/DMS
