Cab driver claims killing of young robber ‘staged’

September 10, 2017

Taxi driver  Tomas Bagcal, robbed by a teenager who was later found dead, said the killing of  Carl Angelo Arnaiz was "scripted".

Bagcal was presented by Church group Rise Up for Life and for Rights in a press conference Sunday afternoon.  The National Bureau of Investigation, which had been tasked to investigate this incident, had been looking for him.

"His death was like a stage play or somewhat scripted," said Bagcal.

Arnaiz  was allegedly killed last August 18 in a shootout with the police after cops responded to a robbery in Caloocan City. His body was found 10 days later.

Bagcal at first refused to identify the robber nor the one killed as Arnaiz but he later added he  can  recognize him.

Bagcal said Arnaiz hailed him in Navotas City and tried to rob him when they reached Caloocan. Bagcal said Arnaiz pulled the trigger but the gun didn't fire, forcing Arnaiz to hit him with the gun.

The cab driver apprehended Arnaiz with the help of bystanders. .

"He was alive when I brought him to the police station. Only one person held me up and I turned over that person to the police," he said.

Upon reaching the police station at 9th Avenue in Caloocan City, Bagcal said he was asked about his name, birthday, and age.

Then police asked Bagcal to follow them as they brought Arnaiz to C3, where he was supposedly killed.

"I saw him walking. He was wearing black. After a few seconds, I heard gunshots. I hid at a Meralco post then the one wearing black fell,"said Bagcal. DMS
