November 24, 2020
Cagayan Governor Manuel Mamba is eyeing to recommend a one-month implementation of modified enhanced community quarantine (MECQ) in Tuguegarao City as the number of COVID-19 cases increases.
In a radio interview, Mamba said they implemented a 10-day MECQ in the city and another 15 days before Typhoon ''Ulysses''entered the country some two weeks ago.
“As the governor of the province, as a medical doctor if it's possible one month (or) 30 days (of MECQ),” he said.
He added that mass testing will be done on 3,500 people in Tuguegarao City to see if there is a surge in COVID-19 cases.
Mamba said Tuguegarao City has 111 COVID-19 cases while entire region has 156.
The governor said it is up to the city whether they want to be placed under lockdown.
“We will do that as per recommendation by the city… We are now talking with the provincial and city health office,” Mamba said.
“We are also asking them to prepare two to five isolation rooms per
barangay,” he added.
According to the Department of Health (DOH) on Monday, the country has 420, 614 COVID-19 cases with 386, 604 recoveries and 8, 173 deaths. Ella Dionisio/DMS
