Calabarzon regional police orders relief of five cops

The regional director of Calabarzon (Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Quezon, Rizal) on Monday ordered the immediate relief of Kawit Municipal Police Station chief and four other operatives over a viral video of their alleged illegal arrest and violence during a operation.
Brigadier General Vicente Danao Jr said the incident happened at Barangay Tabon 2 in Kawit last September 25 when operatives from Kawit police station arrested an alleged female suspect.
The arrest was caught on CCTV and went viral after it showed operatives entered the residence of a certain Dana Jamon, and forcibly dragged and arrested her in front of her children.
“Such act is unacceptable,” Danao said.
“We will not tolerate this action of our police which is a violation of our police operational procedure. All personnel involved in the operation will be administratively relieved pending investigation, to include the chief of police for failure to supervise his men under the doctrine of command responsibility,” Danao added.
The five police officers will be placed under preventive suspension so they will not influence the course of investigation.
Danao assured those who are involved that there will be a fair investigation. He encouraged the public to report similar incidents to authorities. Ella Dionisio/DMS
