Cascolan open to any gov’t post after retiring as PNP chief Nov. 10
November 6, 2020
The chief of the Philippine National Police (PNP) on Friday said he is open to any government position President Rodrigo Duterte will offer once he retires from the service on Nov.10.
“I’m always here for the President,” Police General Camilo Pancratius Cascolan said in an interview with reporters.
Asked if he was informed of a possible extension, Cascolan said he has not heard anything from President Rodrigo Duterte.
"As a true soldier, we always do our job. We are only doing our job up to the time that we will retire," he added.
Last Wednesday, Interior Secretary Eduardo Año said he submitted three names to Duterte but did not give details.
Cascolan was appointed by Duterte as PNP chief on September 1.
Other members of the PNP Command Group which is part of the succession line to be the next PNP chief are Lt. Gen. Guillermo Eleazar, deputy chief for administration and the commander of the Joint Task Force COVID Shield; Lt. Gen. Cesar Hawthorne Binag, deputy chief for operations; and Maj. Gen. Joselito Vera Cruz, chief of the directorial staff.
Also rumored to be the next chief PNP were National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) chief Maj. Gen. Debold Sinas and Calabarzon chief Brig. Gen. Vicente Danao Jr. Ella Dionisio/DMS
