Cebu City's healthcare capacity is reaching a "critical level" in battling the coronavirus disease (COVID-19).
In a virtual press briefing, Health Undersecretary Maria Rosario Vergeire said: "As we can see in the capacity of their healthcare system, the health facilities in Cebu City are already approaching their critical level."
As of June 24, the occupancy rate of isolation beds is 84 percent, 55 percent for ICU beds, and 64.9 percent for ward beds.
"Our critical level is pegged at 70 percent," said Vergeire.
Vergeire said majority of the barangays in Cebu City are seeing high number of COVID-19 cases.
"A total of 61 out of the 80 barangays have new cases in the past 14 days; while out of the 80 barangays, 49 are seeing clustering of cases," said Vergeire.
As of June 25, there are 4,289 COVID-19 cases in Cebu City, including 1,183 in the last 14 days.
"Looking at the critical care utilization and the number of cases that they have, we can really see that Cebu City is a hotspot," said Vergeire. DMS
