Churchgoers brave 11.5 degree temperature for start of dawn masses
December 16, 2017
BAGUIO CITY – An 11.5 degree temperature greeted Catholics here early Saturday, the first day of the 9-day “Simbang Gabi”, also known as dawn masses.
Catholics braved the chill with breezy winds to head to the Baguio Cathedral and other parishes for the dawn masses to start the Christmas season.
Temperatures were lower in nearby Benguet, usually two degrees lower than Baguio City.
In January 16, 1963, Baguio City reached as low as 6.3 degrees, the lowest ever. Baguio’s chill weather starts in November and ends until February. DMS
