CIDG arrests British and Filipino for illegal possession of firearms

The Philippine National Police's Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) arrested two individuals, including a British national, in a law enforcement operation in Pasig City on Thursday.
The suspects were arrested by the CIDG Anti-Transnational Crime Unit (ATCU) police operatives under the direct supervision of its chief, Superintendent Roque Merdegia, during implementation of search warrant at no. 25 Pepper St., Valle Verde 5, Pasig City around 1:35 pm.
The CIDG identified the apprehended suspect as Matthew George Marney, 38, British national and Rommel Manas Catillo, 45,.
The suspects were apprehended after recovering firearms and other war materials from their possession.
Among the recovered items includes “five caliber .45 pistols, 11 magazines for caliber .45, fourteen bladed weapons, 25 pieces of caliber .45 ammunition, five brass knuckles, one slingshot, one stun gun, one stun gun plastic case, one firearm cleaning kit, four pistol cases, three firearms holsters, and four boxes firearms empty shells.”
A according to the CIDG “a case for violation of RA 10591 (Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Law) was filed against Marney and Catilo through inquest proceedings on November 24, 2017 (Friday) at the Pasig City Prosecutors’ Office.” Robina Asido/DMS
