CIDG arrests three for alleged profiteering on medical supplies

The Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) arrested three suspects, including an Indian, for allegedly profiteering on medical supplies in separate operations in Manila and Oriental Mindoro.
In a report, the Manila Police District- CIDG arrested Mukesh Chandwani, 31 for selling overpriced thermal scanner.
Initial report said the operation was conducted around 12:05 pm on Wednesday after they received a report from the Department of Trade and Industry that Chandwani is selling the item for P5,000 which is above the P3, 4000 suggested retail price.
Chandwani was arrested after he was caught selling thermal scanner.
Confiscated from him were four boxes containing 118 pieces of thermal scanners with estimated value of P 590,000.
Meanwhile, two women were arrested in another CIDG operation in Bongabong, Oriental Mindoro last Tuesday.
Suspects were arrested for reportedly profiteering and hoarding of isopropyl alcohol bottles.
Confiscated from their possession were 123 pieces of 100ml isopropyl alcohol with an estimated value of P12,300.
Suspects are under police custody and will face charges for violating the Price Act as amended by the Consumer Act of the Philippines, Aggravating Circumstances, Anti-Hoarding and Anti-Panic Buying and Proclamation No. 922 or State of Public Health Emergency. Ella Dionisio/DMS
