Civilian killed in improvised bomb blast allegedly laid by BIFF: Army

A civilian was killed in an improvised bomb explosion in the province of Maguindanao last Wednesday,. a military spokesman said Friday.
Capt. Arvin Encinas of the Army’s 6th Infantry Division said the victim was a certain Diego Dagadas, 24.
Encinas said based on an initial report, Dagadas was on his way to their farm when he was struck by an improvised explosive device (IED) exploded in the vicinity of Sitio Perez, Barangay Maitumaig, Datu Unsay, Maguindanao around 9:35 am.
He said the improvised bomb was believed to be laid by the members of the Bangsamoro Islamic Freedom Fighters (BIFF) who were harassing the area since Christmas Day.
Encinas said the group is trying to drive away the Teduray, an indigenous people community, from their area.
He said the military is conducting pursuit and clearing operation against the BIFF group and clearing the area of improvised bombs they possibly laid in the area. Robina Asido/DMS
