Based on initial investigation, the crew were fishing approximately 30 nautical miles off Labason and Gutalac Bay when they were hit by big waves and strong winds which caused the boat to capsize. Its crew were rescued by the joint Philippine Army and PCG personnel after the distressed vessel was sighted by authorities around 9:15 am last Tuesday. The PCG and PA personnel conducted the rescue operation after receiving a report from a certain Rolly Antipura, 51, who is a resident of Labason, Zamboanga Del Norte. “Meanwhile, the search and rescue (SAR) team towed Fbca MOMAR-1 to the nearest shoreline and advised the boat Captain to file a marine protest relative to the incident,” the PCG stated.
