The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) helped the ailing Filipino crewman of a foreign vessel off the waters of Corregidor Island last Sunday.
The personnel of Coast Guard Sub Station Corregidor received a call from Duty Radio Operation of Vessel Traffic Management System Corregidor informing that Captain Jin Gu, master of MV Wooyang Queen was requesting for medical evaluation for the vessel’s oiler Jon Elijah Pascua, 23.
The Coast Guard said Pascua was suffering from severe stomach pain while the vessel was transiting between Mariveles and La Monja Island enroute from Indonesia to Taean, South Korea.
PCG personnel evacuated Pascua around 10:30 am.
“Immediately, Coast Guard Station Bataan coordinated with Barangay Lamao Health Center in Limay, Bataan for rescue ambulance and medical personnel for immediate medical attention,” the PCG said.
The PCG personnel who conducted the operation arrived in Bataan around 1pm of the same day and rushed him to Bataan Saint Joseph Hospital and Medical Center in Balanga for medical examination and treatment.
“Personnel of CGS Bataan were able to contact the patient’s immediate family in Novaliches, Quezon City and inform them of Pascua’s condition,” the Coast Guard said. Robina Asido/DMS
