Commission on Appointments rejects Mariano as agrarian reform secretary

The bicameral Commission on Appointments rejected the ad interim appointment of Rafael Mariano as secretary of the Department of Agrarian Reform on Wednesday.
Mariano is the fourth Cabinet member of President Rodrigo Duterte who has rejected by the Commission on Appointments. The others were Perfecto Yasay for foreign affairs, Gina Lopez for environment and natural resources and Judy Taguiwalo for social welfare,
Taguiwalo and Mariano were two left-leaning members of the Duterte Cabinet. During the confirmation hearings, Mariano denied he was a member of the Communist Party of the Philippines. DMS
