October 10, 2017
The bicameral Commission on Appointments rejected the ad interim appointment of Paulyn Ubial as health secretary on Tuesday.
"Your committee reached a difficult decision with at least 13 votes to withhold its consent to the ad interim appointment of the appointee, I submit Mr President" said Senator Gregorio Honasan in a televised hearing.
Senate President Aquilino Pimentel III approved the motion of Honasan's committee.
Ubial is the fifth member of President Rodrigo Duterte's cabinet to be rejected by the Commission on Appointments. She followed Perfecto Yasay Jr (foreign affairs), Regina Lopez (environment), Judy Taguiwalo (social welfare) and Rafael Mariano (agrarian reform). DMS
