A construction worker at the Rizal Memorial Stadium in Manila was injured after he accidentally fell during rain Monday morning.
The Manila Police District identified the victim as Richard Delos Santos, 45.
An initial report said Delos Santos fell while dismantling the scaffolding around 11:50 am.
His companions immediately brought him to Ospital ng Maynila where he was treated for his leg injury, police said.
The Rizal Memorial Stadium is one of the venues for the 30th Southeast Asia (SEA) Games. The renovation of the 85-year-old stadium is still going on even as a football game was held.
In a news report, Delos Santos’ attending physician said the victim was conscious but still under observation as he also sustained a fracture on his skull.
Delos Santos said he hopes the government will provide him medical assistance even he is only considered as a 'volunteer worker'. Ella Dionisio/DMS
