Cop killed in buy-bust operation in Mandaue City

A police officer was killed in a buy-bust operation in Mandaue City last Sunday evening.
In a report, the victim was identified as Senior Inspector Reymond Hortuzuela, who is assigned at the Negros Oriental Police Office.
The incident transpired around 7:50pm at Tipolo, Mandaue City.
Initial investigation showed that a poseur-buyer bought shabu worth P2,000 from Hortezuela. After the transaction, police were signaled to arrest the suspect. He resisted and drew a pistol, which caused an exchange of fire between him and the operatives.
He was brought to Mandaue District Hospital but was pronounced dead on arrival.
Hortuzuela was involved in many illegal drug activities in Cebu City and he was reported as one of the alleged protectors of slain drug lord Jeffrey Diaz aka Jaguar.
When he was assigned at Guadalupe Police Station, he was reported to have recycled recovered shabu evidence.
