Cop shot dead in Muntinlupa

A policeman was killed in a shooting incident in Muntinlupa City on Wednesday night. Superintendent Jenny Tecson, Southern Police District spokesperson, said the victim identified as PO1 Marlon Nofunete, 32, was waiting for a tricycle along ML Quezon St., Purok 4, Sucat when the suspect shot the victim around 5:30pm. Tecson said the two unidentified male suspects were wearing black helmets and black jackets while riding on a motorcycle. She said the victim sustained gunshot wounds in his head and right thigh causing his death while the suspects fled. Recovered by police were “one deformed jacketed fired bullet; two fired cartridge cases believed to be coming from cal. 45 and one cal. 9mm pistol with two magazine loaded with 14 ammos and one spare magazine with 10 ammos.” It is the second incident of the death of a police officer. On Monday, a woman police officer, who was assigned in Manila was shot dead as she drove to work. (Robina Asido/DMS)
