Cops in NCR cannot moonlight, drive cabs: memorandum

The Philippine National Police (PNP) National Capital Region ordered policemen not to be involved in moonlighting activities such as driving public utility vehicles, including Uber and Grab, a memorandum dated September 4 said.
“All PNP personnel are prohibited from engaging or driving public utility vehicle as this is contrary with the sworn duties and functions of the PNP”, according to a memorandum order issued by the National Capital Region Police Office.
The memorandum covers the extensive campaign of the police against the illegal activities involving some PNP personnel.
It said some policemen are involved in moonlighting activity such as driving public utility vehicle including ride hailing companies Grab and Uber.
“Such falls in conflict of interest which may directly or indirectly affect his official functions as a police officers”, the memorandum said.
The memorandum cited the pronouncement of PNP Director General Ronald Dela Rosa on internal cleansing and RA 6713 the code of conduct and ethical standards for public officials and employees as references. Alanna Ambi/DMS
