Cotabato town mayor, driver shot dead

The mayor of Libungan, Cotabato and his driver were shot dead in Barangay Cabaruyan on Monday morning.
A police report said Mayor Christopher Cuan, 46, was onboard his vehicle on his way to the construction of a cockpit arena around 10:30 am when four unidentified suspects onboard a SUV tailed and shot them.
Cuan and his driver died from multiple gunshot wounds.
In a statement, Cotabato Province Gov. Nancy Catamco said she instructed the Cotabato provincial police to conduct a thorough investigation.
“The killing today of Mayor Christopher “Amping” Cuan of the Municipality of Libungan in the province of Cotabato must be condemned in the highest degree,” Catamco said.
“I have instructed the Cotabato Provincial PNP Director to immediately conduct thorough investigation on this violent incident in order to achieve full justice for Mayor Cuan and the other victim of this unconscionable and heinous crime,” she added. Ella Dionisio/DMS
