COVID-19 cases at 5,878; 766 healthcare workers positive for virus

Two hundred eighteen new coronavirus disease (COVID-19) cases were reported by the Department of Health (DOH) Friday, bringing total cases to 5,878.
In a televised press briefing, Health Undersecretary Maria Rosario Vergeire disclosed that there are 766 healthcare workers, who are among the confirmed COVID-19 cases.
Vergeire said 339 are doctors while 242 are nurses.
Twenty-two healthcare workers have died from COVID-19, said Vergeire.
Even as deaths continued rising, recoveries have been climbing. There are 487 recoveries after 52 patients became well. Deaths are at 387 after 25 fatalities were reported. DMS
