Crewman drowns as strong waves hit boat in Quezon

A crewman of a passenger boat drowned in a maritime incident off the waters of Quezon province on Monday
Commodore Armando Balilo, Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) spokesman, said based on an initial report Gesu De Bambino was on its way to Perez from Atimonan, Quezon when it submerged after being hit by strong waves around 12:30 pm.
Balilo said the vessel was carrying a total of 17 passengers and six crew members.
All 17 passengers and five crew members were rescued, he said.
The rescued passengers and crew members were brought to a hospital in Alabat municipality for medical check-up. Robina Asido/DMS
