March 30, 2020
DAVAO CITY - Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio on Monday extended an air travel ban to and from this city before it expires on April 1.
Duterte-Carpio issued Executive Order 22 on Monday morning extending the suspension of air travel until the state of public health emergency or the state of calamity is lifted.
She said doctors advised for the extension of the ban “as they continue to widen the contact tracing of people who have been at the Matina Galleria cockpit on March 9-13, where a number of persons have become ill and have died of Covid-19”.
The multi-million peso, multi-cock derby event was held alongside the Araw ng Dabaw festivities on March 16.
Those under the category of persons under investigation, of which at least three have died, pointed to their presence at the cockpit arena for likely getting the infection.
“The doctors are now looking at those who were infected by those who were in the cockpit, and those who were infected by those who were infected,” she said on her regular radio program on Monday.
“The doctors have confirmed that there is now a community transmission.,” she added. DMS
