Denora's driver, Mayonito Rivera, sustained two gun shots in his right hand, according to a report by Chief Inspector Milgrace Driz, spokesperson of the Davao region police. The gunman fled on foot to an unknown direction, added Driz.

Denora was also a reporter of Sun Star, according to the National Union of Journalists of the Philippines.
