August 7, 2017

Philippine National Police (PNP) Director General Ronald Dela Rosa  told the Kuratong Baleleng Group, who staged robberies and kidnappings more than 20 years ago, to "bring it on" following the death of Ozamiz City Mayor Reynaldo Parojinog and 15 others in a police raid on July 30.

"I will tell those Kuratong Baleleng to bring it on. Are you going to threaten us now? You have threatened the PNP long ago", Dela Rosa said in a press conference after the flag ceremony on Monday.

Parojinog and 15 others died as police implemented  a search warrant in his house for possessing illegal drugs, firearms and explosives. A gunfight ensued where police claimed Parojinog’s men shot at them first.

Two boats with Parojinog’s supporters from Kolambugan, Lanao del Norte are goingto Ozamiz city to avenge his death, reports said.

Dela Rosa said the Koratong Baleleng group has killed many policemen.

"There is the team of Col. Gadapan.. Only Gadapan is still alive, all of them are dead", he said.

Gadapan, said Dela Rosa, led the arrest of Octavio Parojinog, father of the Ozamiz City mayor in 1990. Octavio Parojinog.was killed during that arrest.

Dela Rosa said he told Senior Inspector  Jovie Espenido, the Ozamiz City police chief, to tell the group to "bring it on".

"I told Espinido. Walk there to the poblacion and don't bring a gun to see if these people are brave", he said.

Dela Rosa said police found some bones in an alleged mass graves of the Parojinog.

"They said there are bones. I am still waiting their report . Bones, Bones of a person, bones of a cow, bones of a carabao,. There are bones", he said.

Dela Rosa said people in Ozamiz are relaying about alleged mass graves to the authorities.

Dela Rosa said a certain Buchoy Engracia, who is a nephew of Susan Parojinog, the mayor’s wife who was also killed in the raid, and was  arrested by the Ozamiz police can serve as a witness

He said Espinido has yet to discuss details about the nephew of Susan.

Dela Rosa said he is not setting aside the testimony of a witness who said evidences found in the crime scene was planted.

"Let it go to the proper courts so that we will know based on the findings of the Scene of the Crime Operatives versus testimonial evidence", he said.  Alanna Ambi/DMS
