Dela Rosa going to BuCor: Duterte
December 13, 2017
President Rodrigo Duterte said he would appoint Philippine National Police Director General Ronald dela Rosa as the head of the Bureau of Corrections after he retires from the service early next year.
Dela Rosa will retire on January 21, 2018 when he reaches the mandatory retirement age of 56.
Duterte announced Dela Rosa's appointment to BuCor during the Christmas party with reporters in Malacanang on Tuesday night.
Duterte earlier said he needs a tough person to head BuCor, the agency which oversees the New Bilibid Prison where inmates still managed to operate illegal drugs.
Dela Rosa earlier said Duterte offered him to head an agency when he retires from the PNP.
He did not mention the agency which he would be heading. Celerina Monte/DMS
