Dela Rosa says cops “blind” to drug link between mother, daughter
November 8, 2017
The Philippine National Police (PNP) said the officials at the Police Security and Protection Group were "blind" to the fact that the woman policemen are guarding is the daughter of a drug lord at Correctional Institute for Women.
PNP Director General Ronald Dela Rosa said Wednesday that Diane Uy sought for protection seven years ago because of a kidnap threat but police failed to trace her connection to Yu Yuk Lai, a reported drug queen who has been at the Correctional for years.
Dela Rosa said the two policemen, PO2 Faisal Abullah Sawadjaan and Po3 Walter Vidad will face administrative charges.
"Had we known that she is the daughter of Yu Yuk Lai we would have never given her security," said Dela Rosa.
Faisal has been detailed with Uy since 2010 and Vidal, since 2013, said Dela Rosa.
On Monday, the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency, the police and other law enforcement groups conducted separate raids on Yu at Correctional and Uy at her condominium near Malacanang.
Seized during the two separate raids alleged shabu estimated P15 million, the PDEA said. DMS
