Dela Rosa sets Tagaytay treat for SAF Marawi contingent
October 23, 2017
Philippine National Police (PNP) Director General Ronald Dela Rosa said efforts of the Special Armed Forces (SAF) during the Marawi City crisis must be recognized and in acknowledging their service, he will treat his men to a trip to Tagaytay City.
"That's something for them to look forward to, to be with the chief PNP and the command group. Go to Tagaytay. Eat bulalo (beef shank). Our SAF commandos will be happy with it," Dela Rosa said in a press conference Monday.
According to Dela Rosa, seven SAF members were killed in action and 61 were wounded. He said SAF members are scheduled to go home on Wednesday.
He said he will give awards as he received good feedback from the Armed Forces of the Philippines.
"We have a lot of stories of heroism not being told by them personally but being narrated to us by the military ground commanders in the main battle area," Dela Rosa said.
"They have a very high regard of our SAF commandos on the area. All their comments are very positive. That's why I am happy for their feedback that my men were up to the challenge. That's why we have to recognize their gallant efforts," he added. Ella Dionisio/DMS
