Dela Rosa urges cops to adopt “kuyog culture” to help PNP regain image
September 20, 2017
Philippine National Police chief Director General Ronald Dela Rosa said police should use "kuyog culture" to recover the good image of the PNP.
“I hope a culture within the PNP will be developed where if a policeman committed a wrongdoing, he is swarmed by majority of good and honest policemen,” Dela Rosa told reporters in Camp Crame.
Dela Rosa administered the oath of office to 88 police commissioned officers and 1,303 police non-commissioned officers in Camp Crame.
The PNP has been in a hot spot for the alleged extra judicial killings in the war on drugs of the government.
They were under fire after the death of a 17-year old boy named Kian Delos Santos who was shot three times by police officers and 19 year old, Carl Arnaiz who was shot after allegedly robbing a taxi driver in Caloocan city.
Dela Rosa said the higher the rank of a police officer, the "most sensitive" he should be towards wrongdoings of the other policemen.
"The higher the rank that they wear, the most sensitive they should be towards the wrongdoings of their co-officers especially to the wrong doings of the scalawags", he said.
Dela Rosa said the policemen covering up and ignoring wrongdoings of their colleagues will "lead to disintegration of the organization". Alanna Ambi/DMS
