June 30, 2018
The local government of Barangay Buena Suerte in Palawan and the Department of Environmental and Natural Resources (DENR) have begun demolishing some portions of structures and residential buildings in the coastal side of El Nido, Palawan.
Ricky Ballena, Barangay captain of Buena Suerte, said the demolition team of the local government unit and the DENR last Friday tore down a portion of the buildings of Laly & Abet and El Nido Beach Hotel in Barangay Masagana, and other establishments.
Among the establishments where the demolition is going on are Jarace Grill, Angel Wish, Bayview Inn, Palawan Pawnshop, Sarangani Hotel and two residential houses owned by Amelyn Solanoy and Benjamin Maon.
Portions of their establishment were found to have encroached on the three-meter coastal easement, officials said..
El Nido Mayor Nieves Rosento said they expect the demolition, which began on Wednesday, to be finished in 15 days.
The El Nido local government allocated P3.3 million to build housing units for some 48 families displaced from the coastal easement of Brgy. Buena Suerte. DMS
