DILG to implement dismissal order on Iloilo mayor Monday
October 28, 2017
The Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) will implement the dismissal order of the Office of the Ombudsman against Iloilo City Mayor Jed Patrick Mabilog Monday.
DILG officer-in-charge Catalino Cuy said he sent an order to the regional director in Western Visayas to implement the dismissal order against Mabilog.
Mabilog does not have to physically present for the dismissal order to take effect, Cuy added.
“The order could be served at his office,” Cuy said in a brief phone interview.
The Ombudsman ordered for Mabilog's dismissal after he was found guilty of serious dishonesty for his questionable wealth. Mabilog left for Yokohama to attend a conference on August 30. He has not returned to the country since then.
President Rodrigo Duterte accused Mabilog of being a narcopolitician. DMS
