DILG urges officials to support anti-illegal gambling drive
August 14, 2017
The Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) called on officials to support the Duterte administration’s anti-illegal gambling drive.
“There will not be illegal gambling if there is no tolerance by the local government,” said DILG officer-in-charge Undersecretary Catalino Cuy in a press conference at Camp Crame on Monday.
“This is also a call to the law enforcement to support this campaign on illegal gambling because…it affects the livelihood especially the poor”, he added.
Philippine National Police Director General Ronald Dela Rosa announced on August 4 a 15-day all-out war against illegal gambling. He said officials who are not able to stop illegal gambling in their area will be relieved.
Cuy said ending illegal gambling will not be easy since it is a part of Filipino culture. Alanna Ambi/DMS
