Dogs searching for 19 missing persons in buried DPWH building
November 1, 2018
BAGUIO CITY – Dogs are trying to locate 19 persons under the rubble of a buried Department of Public Works (DPWH) building in Sitio Ha’rang, Barangay Banawel, Natonin, Mountain Province.
Supt. Pelita Tacio, spokesperson of the Cordillera Administrative Region ( CAR) police, said figures have not changed from the four dead, 14 hurt and 19 missing.
The more-than-10-hour land travel from Paracelis town, which can be reached from Santiago, Isabela to the village of Natonin was cut to 6 hours after public works personnel bore through two dozen landslides along the road.
Search and rescue teams, which walked from Bontoc Wednesday, arrived Thursday morning, the Mountain Province Risk Reduction and Management Council said.
The main concern of rescuers is the intermittent areas which have made their tasks difficult. DMS
